In a Perfect World
At First Choice PRC we see women and men from all walks of life with all belief systems, family structures, life styles, drama and trauma. Outside of our walls, often our clients have little in common with one another. But inside our facilities, many come in facing the same fear:
I'm pregnant and I don't know what to do.
We offer a safe, non judgmental place for people in this position to do the hard work of exploring their new reality and the extensive emotions coming along with it. We give them hope and encouragement of who they are at their deepest core: someone who is so loved by their Creator regardless of the many decisions which brought them to this place. We give them tools, resources, and support to be educated about their body and how their baby is developing inside them. They often process the reality of all three options- parenting, adoption and abortion- with an advocate who desperately wants the best for their future.
After we've given them a safe place to process, they are sent home with information, resources, and encouragement for the hard road ahead. There is no easy road when you're expecting... when you weren't expecting. Then our clients do the hard work of decision making. To carry, or not to carry? Who should I tell? How can I do this?
But what if the safety net of resources in this harrowing place of decision making didn't end with First Choice PRC? What if our community organizations, churches, and all around do-gooder community members weaved a beautiful tapestry of support that made having a baby, even an unexpected one, a no brainer!
Don't get me wrong, in the decade I've been involved with First Choice PRC we have seen some incredible connections made with hospitals like Aspirus, help ministries like LOVE Inc., and many churches have their own network of incredible missions within their walls. I just can't help but wonder what it would be like if we worked together with even more vigor to create safety nets for people without support, hope, and resources.
If you know of a mission, organization, church, or all around do-gooder community member who we could connect with, please, please share that with us here We desperately don't want to be the only hands of community support that wrap our arms around our clients.
We are so thankful for our community members who support our mission and ministry. Every little bit helps, even the simple name of a connecting point.
